What is the best way to attach this shelf to the wall? And do I need to seal/prime this wood before staining it?

Hey folks! So I've just started building a shelf/jean hanger that I saw here a while ago and I'd like to replicate - This one

So Far I've just cut the wood I need but I'm a bit stuck. How does one go about attaching that kind of a shelf to the wall? Because it's so long I wouldn't be able to just screw it/anchor it into a stud. Should I drill one plank at a time? Honestly at a standstill of what to do. Any advice would be great!

Also, is any kind of sealer necessary before I stain the wood? I'm going to be using the apple cider vinegar/steel wool stain.
