Reddit: Help me with my phone troubles

Hi folks,

I'm writing this from my third Droid MAXX through Verizon. I should be getting another "warranty replacement" for this defective phone tomorrow.

I decided to get a Droid MAXX in May, and loved it at first. Phone #1. However, I was missing tons of texts and calls and even after many Factory Resets, nothing helped.

Phone #2 was a replacement for this phone. That arrived in June. It was pretty solid, a few missed calls and messages here and there. Cue a system update last Thursday. I'm missing messages and things just aren't working right. I went to Verizon for a Sim card replacement thinking that'd help. The new Sim card triggered some sort of meltdown in my phone that rendered me unable to use any of my google accounts or really use the phone at all.

Enter replacement #2, phone #3. Another warranty replacement. Yay! New (refurbished) phone, I'll get my messages, cool. Except wait, the rear-facing camera on this phone wont work. Clear caches, reset, nothing. The camera isn't wired into the phone. Fuck.

So, now I'm waiting on replacement #3, phone #4. I'm so tired of issues with this phone. I spent three hours today talking in circles through different chains of command at Verizon--I just want a different phone. My mom and brother got a Samsung Galaxy S5 at the same time I got my first phone and have had no issues. Verizon wants me to pay $250 to switch to a different phone, and renew my contract to do so--for another two years!

Reddit, I need your help. What should I do? Are there any companies I should switch to? I'm looking at US Cellular, and I want a different phone. I was going to contact Motorola but Verizon said not to because they wont do anything anyway. What phone should I look to get when I can finally leave Verizon (in July, without penalties)? I'm just a college student who doesn't have time to replace my phone every few months. I'd love to talk to anyone from US Cellular or Samsung or even Motorola if you guys have ideas on how to switch phones/carriers, or get me a better phone that I won't replace every other month.

Thanks, Reddit. You're my only hope!
