Laminate Flooring + Waterfall dog drool = Help!

So we adopted a 6 year old great dane named Maci and the end of last year, and the adjustment period is just about done. The one problem we have, is that the dog food and water bowls are sitting on laminate flooring.

As we all know, dogs are drooly, sloppy mess makers full of love. She will chow down on her food, gulp down some water, and run off, leaving behind a masssiivvee trail of water that has started to take its toll on our laminate flooring.

What we have done so far:

  • Neater Feeder + raised legs Cut down on the initial slop over from the bowl

  • Giant mud room boot tray (super hard plastic with a decent lip) under the neater feeder, in front of it, so that when she lifts her head up, that catches the initial dripage)

  • Slobber rags both in front of the boot tray and ALL OVER THE HOUSE. The second she is done drinking, one of the house members has a rag at the ready.

Despite our best efforts, we are still finding the laminate flooring starting to warp a bit. I am thinking our best bet is to move the dog stuff, clean, polish, sand and seal the laminate, but I am looking for options before going that route.

SO. I beg of you /r/diy. What have you done to protect your laminate flooring against the waterfall effect that is a thirsty dog?
