Hey Reddit DIY,
I am a novice woodworking. Getting more and more into it. Been very interested in mortise and tennon and have cut tennons on my table saw. The mortise is a lot more challenging. I've got a dowel jig coming to try and make it easier but thus far haven't gotten any to work out...at all. So my question is this. I found a mortising machine that is $175 used, might be able to bring them down some. It is a Delta 14-650 that comes with the chisel bits that originally came with the machine. Is this a good purchase for someone of my skill level? The machine was not rated well on Amazon. Should I work on other skills before dropping the money for something like this? I can put a link to the CL post if anyone is interested.
