I bought this table with my first money after graduating college, and its our "everything" table. I love the raised lip (helps with spills and crumbs, just wipe or vacuum), and I haven't found one similar.
Over time it has taken a beating, and I'd like to fix up the top. Questions:
I think knocking off the side rails would make it much easier to rehab. How can I do this without splintering and ruining it? Will I need large clamps/corner clamps to put it back together?
Any tips for stripping, or color matching stain?
I'd like to make it bulletproof for the future. Since it has a raised lip I think I could float a 1/4" of shellac(?) to make it thick like a bartop. What's the best substance?
