Mold remediation + Floor repair

On first thaw I noticed a smell in the basement office that persisted even after I shampooed the area rugs and did a thorough floor cleaning. http://ift.tt/1zeaTn1 After further investigation, discovered rotten wood + moldy water in the small fuse panel closet.

24 hours later, it is mostly dry in the closet. http://ift.tt/1DClog8 I know I’m in for a big job, so I empty the office into the garage, (same level) and find all the 6mm laminate floors soaked from underneath and bursting at the edges. I pulled the floor back starting in the closet and find mold in about a 12sq/ft area. I demo further. Remove the closest completely and find the drain pipe is actually broken and leaking in two places (top and bottom) so I replace the whole thing and start to clean up the surface mold on the concrete floor. I used Concrobium mold control first, and later 100% bleach (why dilute 1:10 with water, which caused this problem in the first place), to be completely sure nothing was left growing.

http://ift.tt/1DClqo2 There were very poor seals around furnace inlet/exhaust ports and power & cable ports allowed cold air in. Threw some caulk in the holes (giggity) and some expanding foam completed the seals.

I pre-wired an extra receptacle box cause i had 1 spare fuse not in use, exterior speakers and I ran HDMI and power for my TV. Also pre-wired the interior of the room with audio. Then drywall and started on the dri-core subfloor. (Amazing product BTW, a must have for concrete floors. $6.48/sheet)

I didn’t have a huge budget as this wasn’t a planned project so I picked a 12mm laminate with integrated 3mm underpad to save me a step. $1.59/sqft. Also very happy with his product. Paint and trim.
Moved back into the office in under a week. Materials just under $1500 including a couple new tools.

Thanks for looking!
