I have an electric drill that I have dismantled. I would like to use it to power an automated chicken coop door. I have found some schematics dealing with relays and such but I think that may be a bit over my head and more complicated than needed. Please let me know if I am over simplifying things:
It is my understanding that reversing the polarity on the positive and negative is all that is needed to reverse the direction of the motor (I have tested this to be true).
Is there any reason I cannot simply just hook up two DC programmable timers so that power is passed from the first timer to one terminal on the motor and power is passed from the second timer to the other terminal? Essentially the motor would have a positive and a negative hooked up to each terminal that would be energized to move forward or reverse based on what timer is activated.
If my assumption of wiring will not work, is anyone willing to spell out in dummy terms what I need to do to wire this thing up? Thank you in advance.
