Hey /r/DIY, I have a 1988 Nissan Hardbody/D21 pickup that is my daily drive. It's also very cheap (got it for $300) and beat up (was a former dog house on cinderblocks) so I'm trying to use it to learn about cars via projects and have some fun with it!
Anyways, the current project I want to try is installing a killswitch. Well, multiple actually. I want one like this and then I want four 3 way toggle switches, two for the ignition and two for the fuel pump, which need to be set in the right order to start the car. I know its probably overkill for such an old and cheap car but this is more for learning and cool factor rather than security.
Anyways, I've got the manual and wiring diagram for my truck (as confusing as it is) but every YouTube video I've seen is different on how to wire these things, and none of them go very far in depth as to how to wire switches, especially three way switches. I really need resources on how to wire toggle switches into a car and the importance of grounding and other things. Thanks!
