I need to put in an Island but don't know what would work best with my space. Help?

So, this is what my kitchen looks like.

As you can see, I have like, zero counter space but a fairly massive kitchen. Just bought this house and this winter I'd like to repaint the kitchen and put an island in but I'm overwhelmed and would very much like some input! [and clearly, I intend to make it all by myself.]
