I do swordfighting shows using rapiers and broadswords. so I fixed and repainted my old shield

Hello Reddit! First time posting, but I'm pretty proud of what I did and I felt like sharing with this subreddit which always gives me plenty of ideas.

I do swordfighting shows during medieval faires, and after years of getting beaten up I decided to fix my old shield. I used LIFECOLOR colours, they were pretty good but proved unuseable with an airbrush, so I had to do everything with a normal paintbrushes.

The colours (all acrylic)

  • LC72 (satin black)
  • a normal, brandless white
  • UA545 (Finnish Orange for the foxes)
  • UA623 (Sea Blue, for the background)
  • LC006 (turtles' paws)
  • Citadel's Dark Angel Green (turtles' shells)
  • Citadel's Red Blood [BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!] (for the rose in the middle)
  • Matte "Raw Terra Di Siena"

The shield (poplar with a layer of linen to protect the wood) was initially fixed applying simple wood putty to the dented areas, then it was all primed with black paint. I then printed the stencil of sorta good A4 sturdy paper and started painting it all.

In case anyone's is interested in the stencils I used: LINK

Edit: OH BOY I FORGOT TO LINK THE ALBUM: IMGURALBUM
