Removing Excess concrete on top of concrete countertops.

I just did my concrete countertops this weekend and everything looks to be good except the top of the countertop. I was unable to screed all that much because I had an inlay of fiberoptic connected glass, which needed to protrude a little from the top. I have about 1/8" of concrete that is above where my forms were. What do you suggest I do to hone this countertop down to somewhat of level nature? I was thinking of a planetary polisher with a 30 grit metal pad, but I am unsure if this would be the right tool for the job. How do I do this in a quick and effective manner? Thank you.
