Hi, I have a few questions. I purched a ikea table and chair set for my son, and I want to stain it. I did quite a bit of research, and started my project. From what I understand, pine can stain blotchy, so it's best to pretreat the wood, stain, and then seal. My question... I have pretreated the wood, but I did not have the proper grit of sandpaper, so I had to wait. It has been two days now. (1) Do I need to pretreat the wood again or can I go ahead and sand and stain? What if I wait another week or longer to sand? Does the time waited affect the next steps? (2) Once I sand the pre-treatment, do I have to stain right away? Whatvif I want to start staining a week later? I have to work in limited time slots, so I would like to know if this project is something I can do given the time restraints without affecting the project.
