Removing tile laid under mantel - need advice (first time tiling)

I'm currently working on my first tile project - replacing the tile on my fireplace floor and surround. However, as I was prying up the tile, I realized that the tile was laid before the mantel was installed.

What options do I have to remove the tile without removing/damaging the mantel?
