New to DIY, and wanted some advice restoring this cool backgammon box

Hi all, thanks in advance.

So I picked up this cool backgammon box that is in pretty good condition on the inside, however the inside has been bashed about a bit, it has some scratches and has one particularly noticeable chip to the front edge.

As said, I am pretty new to this so I'm hoping it will be fairly simple. The one bit I'm worried about is the coca cola detailing as it looks like stained wood on the inside and I don't want to loose this (especially the trademark) after sanding, so any advice would be awesome.
