Putting Together a Fire Pit; Need Area for Seating

I moved into a new house at the beginning of April. It's slightly on the older side, and I've been working on various improvements to increase the property value/my ability to enjoy my home.

The back yard is totally vanilla right now except for an old satellite dish near my north exterior wall which I still need to excise--given summer is approaching pretty quickly (and that my house isn't all that large), I'd like to put together a decent place out back to have people over. Fire pits usually make good focal points, and I've already got the retaining wall blocks and legless metal dish to set inside the stone circle.

Thing is, I'd also like to have a nice, complementary seating area. I considered laying out a circular patio about 6'-7' around the exterior of the pit, but it just doesn't seem totally viable. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on the project, a truck to carry machinery, super-easy access to the back yard, or a crew to help me excavate soil, lay down the sand & gravel, or to haul around all the stone it would take.

So, given laying out a full patio is a little out of my league right now, I'm wondering if there are any easier/cheaper options for getting paved seating around the pit. I'd honestly like to budget $500 or less for the whole thing, and am willing to forgo stuff like flowerbeds, walls, walkways, etc.

A picture of the back yard can be provided later in the day, but I'm in my office right now (~11:30 AM CST).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
