Smart panel for modem/phone.

I Use Time Warner as my phone and Internet provider and their modem also has to have the phone cord plugged into it. This modem is in my closet and would like to move it to my kitchen. I was wondering how to run the phone since I plug it into a jack in the smart panel.

I thought about installing a jack in the closet and then run a jack to the kitchen. I though you could plug a cord into the smart panel to the jack in the closet then plug the modem into the jack in the kitchen. Apperently this doesn't work when doing it this way or my wiring from femal to female is wrong. So how should it be done? I was just trying to make it look clean.

Any input would greatly be appreciated
