Painting wooden floors Help

I live in a rental apt which I want to do up a little bit (just been dumped, cheaper than moving, want to exorcise my ex etc). I have wooden floors, which have been painted, a long time ago and badly. The paint is chipped, scraped, etc. Do I need to sand and prime before I repaint? Or can I just pop down some floor paint? I'm not planning to live there for more than a couple more years. They definitely haven't been primed previously.

One room the floorboards are not painted but thinking I could just paint them after a light sanding? or just straight on?
