We're looking to add a few moderators to help distribute the load of work between us. We'd prefer someone who hangs out on /r/DIY regularly so they generally have an understanding of how things work around here. That said, we're not limiting to that, so if you think you'd like to offer your hand at moderating, shoot us an application.
Expected duties:
- Approve/remove posts based on the guidelines in the modqueue.
- Assist with modmail
- Monitor subreddit comments as you come across them.
In terms of frequency, it's basically as your time can permit. We are volunteers here, and we're all trying to reduce our collective workload by adding more people. The more quality moderators we have, the easier all of our jobs get.
In your application, please answer the below questions, along with a little bit about yourself.
- Favorite/Least favorite thing about /r/DIY?
- What would make you a good moderator?
- Biggest problem with reddit in general?
- What timezone are you in, and when are you generally on Reddit (in Eastern Time, please)?
- Where else do you moderate, and how has that experience been?
- What would you like to see added/removed from /r/DIY's rules/guidelines?
- What would your approach be when you need to communicate with angry or disruptive Redditors?
Please send your application to redditDIY@gmail.com.
We'll be reviewing applications as we go, but let's set a tentative deadline of June 3rd. We'll leave it up afterwards if we need to.
Thanks everyone!
