The diagonal compression brace is attached with glue and screws at top and bottom. Would it be better, worse, or make no difference to screw it to the pickets also? I was told to put 2 screws in where it meets each picket to keep it from bowing. But I think it should be free to transfer the weight down to the bottom hinge, and attaching it along the way would defeat that purpose. Thoughts?
