How to remove Strong salsa smell from jar lid?

I want to repurpose a salsa jar. The jar itself does not smell like salsa. The rubber in the lid reeks of salsa. Items stored in the jar absorb the salsa smell from the lid.

Here's what I've tried and the lid still emits a salsa odor:

• Scrubbing with soap and water

• Boiling water + white vinegar

• Boiling water + baking soda

• Rubbing alcohol

• Running the lid through dishwasher multiple times
