Hi All,
I'm thinking about building a shadowbox-style frame for a basic 3' x 5' flag and am looking for some advice. I have neither a ton of experience, nor an overflowing tool chest. But what I do have is a very particular set of skills desire to see this project through to completion.
I'm basing my project on that of /u/AnonymousWeb (http://ift.tt/1qJfuIr) but mine differs a bit, so I'm hoping y'all can build on what he put out.
As of now, I'm thinking about buying a few pieces of moulding from HD/ Lowe's, gluing them at 45degrees, and then affixing them to 2x2s in some manner or another. To me, this seems relatively straightforward, but if anyone has a better plan of attack, please let me know.
After the general construction, things get a bit tricky. I'm thinking about getting a piece of acrylic, but don't know a ton about the clarity vs. glass. I'd also imagine acrylic will be a bit cheaper, but I'm not 100% sure. Suggestions welcome here.
I'd also like to sit the acrylic (or glass) flush with the back of the frame, but don't have access to a router-any ideas here?
Thanks in advance for the ideas, and I'll be sure to post pictures once I've conquered the (relatively small) beast.
