Previous owner had a vinyl floor installed in the kitchen over a maple hardwood floor. I can see that it is hardwood by looking up from the basement between the gaps in the 1870's era pine board subfloor. Problem is, the 1990's kitchen remodel was built on top of the chip board subfloor that was nailed into the existing maple and pine. To remove the chip board I would have to cut very close to the base of cabinets and the kitchen island. Is there any type of saw that I could use to cut vertically through the chip board with zero clearance to the base of the cabinets? I've been thinking about how to do this for about a year and haven't found a solution.
