Installing a patio

Just a quick question too see if anyone has ideas here.

I want to put in a patio using pavers. Not that big of deal - I've never tried anything like this, but tons of advice here and on the Web for this.

However, I have serious mole problems in my yard. The area I want the patio in is one of the the worse ones. So much so that my cheap 12x6 landscape bricks used for a firepit ring 4 rows high that was originally nice and level now is all wavy along the top.

I don't want to go through and level out the ground, do all the prep/installation of a nice patio, only to have it buckle and sink because of rodents.

Yet, growing up we had a large brick patio in a yard with bad mole problems and I don't recall any issues with that patio buckling or anything.

Am I concerned over nothing? Should I worry? If so, what can I do? Trapping/poison/thumpers have helped in the past, but never gotten rid of the moles completely.
