[help] Opening a cabinet with a switch from across the room

I've got a small cabinet with double doors (i.e. french door style), and I'd like to be able to open and close both doors with a switch/button installed ten feet away. Cabinet is about 20" x 32" with an outlet inside the cabinet. I'm fairly crafty in woodworking, and I'm married to an electrician.

I thought about a couple solenoids, but they're a little loud, and tend not to have a lot of travel. I looked into pre-made motorized systems, but they're crazy expensive.

I'd prefer not to do wireless; I'd like this system to last for many years and don't want to change batteries.

I'm up for an adventure ... where would you start?
