What is the best gadget for pc to tv mirroring

Doko? chromecast? or maybe just a straight up HDMI cable?

Ill be purchasing a new tv in the next few weeks and also a new laptop or desktop. I would really like to be able to use the two devices as one. Anyone have any experience in this? is there a preffered method or gadget?

Im new to this stuff so all advice is welcome.
