Hello all, i will be renting a home and we have 2 dogs. We currently live in an apartment and do not want to deal with another carpet, it was tiring trying to keep the carpet clean. We would like to keep the high traffic areas (liviing room + dining room) absolutely clean. Now my wife and i have settled on 1 of 2 options.
Pretty much laying down solid sheets of OSB on top of the carpet, then laying laminate over the OSB.
Laying bamboo WALL panel on the floor, because it is thicker than the bamboo "rugs" and thinner than actualy bamboo flooring.
Our issue with (1) is mold. Everyone says not to ever lay laminate flooring over carpet.
Our issue with (2) is being too soft. The bamboo wall panel over the rug would be easy to clean definitely but it would have to much give. Would mold still grow if we laid down OSB and put this bamboo wall panel over it rather than the laminate?\
Thank you guys for your time!
PS. We cannot rip the carpet out. Not an option. And we cannot find a house with wood floors.
