I have just moved into a new apartment and 3 days ago I had some bananas still in the plastic bag that has small holes sitting in the corner on a granite topped table. We cleaned up the kitchen today and there is a light brown/tan outline of where the 2 bananas sat.
They did not rot at all, there was zero moisture or liquid when we moved them and of anything they are still unripe. I have tried a kitchen towel soaked in bleach left on for roughly 12 hours then scrubbed, magic eraser, vinager and baking soda all had minimal effect.
I cannot find any reason for this to happen anywhere online. It's a white with black speckled granite with a glossy shine to it.
Please tell me that it was something like the sun reacting with the plastic or the gases of the bananas ripening that caused this and that there's a simple fix.
I have a full mantinance staff for this condo and they can supply me with many different products but they just won't risk damaging the table themselves. So I can use their stuff I just can't ask them to help, so I need you guys, desperately.
