Took down the light fixture glass covers to paint the bathroom and clean the glass covers. While trying to re-attach them, I misthreaded the socket ring so it will not actually go all the way up on the white part that the light bulb screws in the middle (see pictures). This wasn't a problem when I accidentally misthreaded the piece on another light but the problem is the part it screws into is loose and twists while I am trying to loosen it. So when I try to unscrew the socket ring, the entire part that the light bulb screws into twists with it. It is hard to get anything up there because the glass cover is on.
Any suggestions for a solution that doesn't involve breaking the glass cover?
