Hey everyone, hopefully you can help me out. I'm going crazy trying to find a fan that's going to work for my master bedroom. I'm a novice when it comes to home ownership, and my electrician's knowledge is severely limited, but I will provide as much information as I can. So far I've installed 5 different fans.
Problem: Ceiling fan starts making an audible click sound 1-2 weeks after installation. Have also had the motor in some of them make a grinding/humming sound.
Steps taken so far (electrician): Re-ran new 14/3 wiring from the switch to the fan. Installed a brand new ceiling fan mount. Mounted fan.
Steps taken so far (myself): Verified the switch isn't a dimmer switch (it's not). Attempted to balance the fan using the provided balancing kit. Reinstalled several fans.
Request: Please help me figure out where else to go. I find it to be too coincidental that 5 fans have gone bad; I feel it must be an issue with my environment. As stated previously, my knowledge in this field is severely limited, but I will be monitoring this thread and will answer any questions or provide any additional information as quickly as possible. Whatever I need to do in order to get a good night's sleep, I will do.
Thank you,
Edit: I apologize for the lack of capitalization in the title. The preview while creating the thread displayed it properly, but it looks like it doesn't apply it.
