[HELP] Replacing the wood flooring in my trailer.

Flooring, as in the wood boards and trailer as in one you'd pull behind a truck carrying four wheelers or a tractor.
The we have on there now are quite old, have a hole burnt in a section near the front, and I believe they have been there since the trailer was purchased.
Id like to hear some suggestions on what boards to use, from species of trees that is.
The boards will need to be the length of the trailer, or I suppose I could lay them the width of the trailer.
~UPDATE~
Basic (mspaint) picture: http://ift.tt/1DgbSoA
Its 16ft x 6ft 4in. Has 6 ribs running the width for support. Currently has 13, 16ft long, boards running the length of the trailer. The boards are 5 1/2 wide x 1 1/2 thick. So 6x2?

[Help] Need some electrical advice for a car killswitch

Hey /r/DIY, I have a 1988 Nissan Hardbody/D21 pickup that is my daily drive. It's also very cheap (got it for $300) and beat up (was a former dog house on cinderblocks) so I'm trying to use it to learn about cars via projects and have some fun with it!

Anyways, the current project I want to try is installing a killswitch. Well, multiple actually. I want one like this and then I want four 3 way toggle switches, two for the ignition and two for the fuel pump, which need to be set in the right order to start the car. I know its probably overkill for such an old and cheap car but this is more for learning and cool factor rather than security.

Anyways, I've got the manual and wiring diagram for my truck (as confusing as it is) but every YouTube video I've seen is different on how to wire these things, and none of them go very far in depth as to how to wire switches, especially three way switches. I really need resources on how to wire toggle switches into a car and the importance of grounding and other things. Thanks!

VO2max measurement using O2 analyzer and spirometry hardware

As the title states, can I measure VO2max in human subjects using an O2 analyzer (measures O2 concentration in air/gas sample) and a spirometry setup (provides lung volumes)?

I was thinking of having the subjects exercise on a stationary bike while I first used the O2 analyzer to measure the conc. of O2 in inhaled and exhaled air.

Then, using the spirometry hardware, I can measure the volume of inhaled and exhaled air. Multiplying both volumes with the respective O2 concentrations and then obtaining the difference should give me the VO2max.

Is this a reliable way to get values of VO2max?

[Help] Tried to install a dimmer switch and now my outlets don't work. Please help me figure out what I did wrong.

Before I begin, the power is OFF at the breaker in all of these pictures. It's still off right now. No worries. Also, I'm in America.

I bought a single dimmer switch (TGCL-153PH-WH) to replace one of my lightswitches and thought it would be a simple job that I could handle without any electrical knowledge at all (I've done ceiling fans, so I thought this would be similar or easier). But as it turns out, it's not a simple "put the wires in the same spot as they were on the old switch" sort of job. I even read the instructions, but they're not the best instructions I've ever seen (the most electrical work I've ever done is installing a few of those "5-minute fans" that spell out the instructions for complete retards like me).

I connected the wires to where I thought they should logically go and when I put the power back on, the dimmer switch worked fine, but now all the outlets in the room no longer work. Googling my problem led me to this page, and so it sounds like my problem is that the "feed through hot" is not properly connected. I'm sure that's electrician lingo for something, but it sounds like I broke the circuit that feeds through from the lightswitch to all the outlets.

Here are some pictures of what I'm dealing with.

  • There's two black wires and one copper wire (it's painted white further up, but I'm pretty sure it's still ground) coming from the wall
  • There's one black wire coming from the light switch plate in the middle
  • There's 3 lugs and one green wire coming from the dimmer switch

The way I had it set up before was:

  • Copper wire and green wire together in a wire nut
  • Two black wires from the wall around the two lugs on the right side of the dimmer switch.
  • Black wire from the middle lightswitch around the single lug on the left side of the dimmer switch.

When I turned the power back on, the dimmer switch and the lights it controlled worked fine, but the outlets in the rest of the room don't. Where did I go wrong and how do I fix it?

Also, if you need more pictures, please let me know and I will quickly accomodate.

DIY pullup bar in apartment corridor

hello, I'd like to ask for your help.

I would like to install an apparatus so I can do some basic bodyweight exercises. I intend to hang gymnastics rings from the tube. I do not intend to use it for dynamic exercises with momentum etc, just pullups, dips etc. No fancy stuff that use momentum/kipping.

The setting:

corridor, 1,3m (4,3') wide

one side is concrete, the other is hollow bricks +plaster, etc.

I intend to install a steel tube, heavy duty.

Now, what's the best way to do it?

My plan so far is

a steel tube that's 15 cm larger than the width of the corridor (both walls are 12cm or so wide)

make 2 holes on each side, at least 8 cm deep, allow some slack so I can actually put the tube in.

clean them, fill them with epoxy adhesive for concrete-metal (I can't find a link in english, basically it is a compound similar to stucco in its texture that's actually harder than concrete when it gets dry). Basically I fill the holes with that, stick the tube inside, fill it again if there's empty spots, let it dry. Afterwards I reapply plaster and paint.

So my question, will this be safe in the long run? I am asking mostly about the side with the bricks. If not, what's the plan?

I cannot put something in the ceiling, like anchor bolts or similar, for a number of reasons.
