Studs and tv mounts

I have a Cheetah mount. It is not long enough to be mounted to two studs, no matter where I place it. My 46" tv's shipping weight was 37lbs.

Can I center mount the bracket to a stud? Will that be enough?

This sounds real stupid a question, the tv mount has both oblong holes and round holes. There are 2 oblong holes dead center that I can easily screw into a stud no problem, the screws are obviously round. I also have toggle bolts but I don't want to rely on them

Thanks in advanced. I just moved and am pet sitting. I can't leave the tv on the floor. hahaha. This puppy malinios will destroy it!
