Cordless impact driver adapter questions.

Hi everyone,

I have the chance to get a good deal on a 18v dewalt impact with the 1/4 hex. But i will primarily be using it for automotive work so i Will need to use an adapter to convert it to a 1/2 inch square anvil. Will i lose torque by converting to a 1/2 inch, and will that add extra stress to the driver and bits? Im just not sure if i should spend the extra money and go for the 1/2 inch square anvil. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
