Quick background story - I replaced all the electrical outlets on my backsplash a few years ago with 20 amp outlets without even knowing if it was wired for 15 amps or 20 amps. I went with 20 only because they had the easy clamp-style installation screws vs the 15 amp that had the typical bend-the-wire-around-the-screw connectors. How can I tell if these outlets are wired for 15 or 20? Will the breaker switch tell me? If it IS 15 amps is there a way to convert it to 20 without rewiring it?
