This thing has just been a huge mess lately and it would be great if I could figure out what the problem is and fix it myself.
Last week my garage door got stuck about halfway up while opening. It turned out that one of the wheels was coming off of the track. I checked everything and the brackets/hinges that are all along the sides of the door were extremely loose and the bolts were kind of coming through the cheap material of the door on the outside, so I put some washers on them and tightened everything back up, got the wheel back on the track and it was working fine for about a week.
This morning, I opened the door with the remote in my car, pulled out and used the opener to shut the door. It got stuck about halfway down. I checked the wheels and everything was fine. I was able to detach the door from the track and manually open/close it so it's rolling along the tracks without issue.
Now when I use the open/close button on the remote opener, the motor makes about 5 "clicks" but never actually engages. If I use the wired button in the garage it does the same. However, if I press and hold the wired button, the door opens and closes just fine. As soon as I release the button, the door stops wherever it is and the clicking resumes. Note that I did try opening and closing it with the track detached from the door so the motor is not actually pulling any weight, and the same thing happens. Either the wired button needs to be held down the entire time or the motor just clicks and does nothing.
This does not seem like it is in any way related to the issue I had last week, but since they happened in such close proximity I think it would be best to explain everything.
Edit: Since it was mentioned twice and I forgot to include it, I should add that the door does not have sensors, so it has to be something else.
