I feel like the gene that allows people to build / fix / maintain / enhance / install things completely skipped me somehow, and I never had a mentor to teach me these things as I was growing up.
Is "handiness" (for lack of a better word) something you have to be born with? Where could a beginner at pretty much everything go to learn about the skills it takes to repair/renew houses?
Classes? YouTube videos? Books? I'm talking about more than just the specific techniques of something like patching drywall or installing tile on a counter top. I almost feel like I need a high level primer on general construction concepts and techniques, tools, cost and time estimates of various jobs, etc...
Any advice appreciated!
