I am building a porch roof and my wife wants to use grooved rough sawn siding as the sheathing. Problem is the sheathing is 5/8 thick but only 1/4 in the grooves. which isn't thick enough for 20" rafter span
-
If I double up the sheathing (ie 5/8 grooved board plus a 3/8 board) should I glue the two boards together on top of fastening to the rafters?
-
Should I fasten the layers together in the void between the rafters to increase strength?
Thanks for any advice
