Updating the plumbing in a gut rehab of our home and using PEX - does anyone like the expanding method over the crimping method?

My wife and I are redoing the water lines in a 105 year old home in Michigan and we are going to use PEX. We have gutted everything down the studs. I've seen PEX that uses an expander and one that used a crimper for the connections.

Is one better than the other? I'm leaning toward the expander because I think it might save use some money since we don't need the metal bands.
