(Question) How do I fix gap under flooring?
We are installing COREtec Plus XL in a bedroom that has a seam in the concrete sub floor from where an extension was put in years ago. The newer sub floor is slightly higher than the older part and they had put plaster on it originally to bridge the gap.
Before I started installing the new flooring I put some new plaster on and thought I had gotten enough of an incline that you wouldn't notice once we had the flooring in. However, about halfway through the install I realized that there is a small gap under the flooring, enough that you can feel the floor go down when you step on it. We tried taking the flooring up so that I could go back and put more plaster down but when we tried to take a couple of the pieces apart they broke.
How do I go about fixing this? If I put a lot of weight on it will the flooring conform to the floor so it won't move when you step on it? Or is there something I can slide under the gap to bolster it?
We are going to be renting out the house or selling it within the next few years so we want to make sure the floor doesn't annoy/bother someone else.

Found a runtime broker fix in windows 10.
I looked over some of the tips here from others and tried several myself. I tried to stop show me tips in notifications settings, stopping java updates, and stopping the store apps also..... Nothing would stop my CPU from hitting 100%. I then tried myself and found disabling the speech, inking and typing was the only thing to get it to stop. Now i safely and comfortably run around 15% CPU while idle not 100%. I'm guessing its more to do with Cortana/ windows 10 being a problem with wanting to know to much about its users. Especially trying to constantly go through your computer for contacts, typing history, speech and so on. For those having this trouble try it. I looked it over and it wasn't posted or talked about like the other options stated.

Reinforce Chainlink Fence Post
Does anyone know of a method to reinforce a chainlink fence post?
I installed a 5' gate onto the post and it won't sit quite square because it is causing the post to bend a bit.
My first thought was maybe finding a steel rod that fits the internal diameter and slide it in, not sure if I can mix steel and aluminium together like that.
My second thought was to pull it back into plumb and tie it off and fill the middle of the post with cement.
Any thoughts and advice would be great.

Drain smell coming from the bathroom?
Every now and then, usually on hot days my bathroom gets this horrible drain smell. I can't pinpoint the source of the smell. I've had 3 different plumbers out who have failed to find any fault or any source of where the smell is coming from. I do think the smell comes from the sink and have put bleach down there once which did kill the smell. Any help would be appreciated in either eliminating the smell or locating the source.

Replacing a cooker extractor hood - do i need an extraction unit?
Hi, my cooker extractor hood is kaput. The motor has blown in it. I called an electrician who told me that it's not possible to just replace the motor, you have to buy a whole new unit. So this is what I currently have front view side view and I've found one to replace it with which has the same curved canopy and same dimensions (90cm).
Whatever website I look at always mentions buying 'extraction kits' to go along with the new hood, these are the vents that take the steam/smoke outside. If my current unit already has one view 1 and view 2, do I still have to get a new extraction kit and if so does it have to be the same dimensions as the one I would potentially be replacing? I would have though I could keep the same one that's already there but maybe I'm wrong

LCD Controller Board for Laptop Screen I removed from dell inspiron 15
Hey, I pulled a screen out of a laptop that I want to use for a DIY project, like the magic mirror or the raspberry pi information screen that were posted here a while ago.
The problem is that I can't find a controller that works for it. I've found similar.
The model number of the screen is: B156XTN04 with a small .0 next to it.
I can find a controller for B156XTN04 with a .2 or .3 next to it. But not a .0.
Will that work? If not, could someone please help?
Thank you so much!

First time laying tile
Before I attempt this I want to make sure I have everything planned out so I don't get destroyed when I post the after shots.
The floor is 27 square feet and vinyl
What it looks like under the vinyl. Can you tell what kind of prep I will need?
What size trowel should I use? Some people are saying 3/16 and 1/4 but I've also seen 1/2 recommended.
What about the grout? Sanded or non-sanded?
Is my process correct?
- Remove trim
- Turn off toilet and remove. Stuff hole with plastic bag.
- Tear out old vinyl and subfloor?
- Lay new subfloor? Hardibacker then regard?
- Find center of floor and chalk lines
- Spread mortar and lay tile
- Spread grout
- Enjoy new bathroom floor and start the rest of the house?
- Get around to installing the old trim a month before I sell the house
Are my steps correct or am I missing anything?

Lemonade Robot
Hi all,
A small plea for help. As an uncle living five states away from my 7 year old nephew, after a visit I'm always left feeling like I haven't done enough to bond or satisfy his inquisitive mind. I send science kits over the mail but once he understands the concept he becomes bored with it.
Last time I was there he asked, "Uncle John, can you help me build a lemonade robot?" My natural, reaction at the time was to say, 'yes!' And now with his birthday at month's end I have no clue how to fulfill my God son's request.
I'm somewhat handy but by no means an engineer, can you help me figure out components to make a lemonade/machine/robot?
Edit: maybe this belongs in /r/TIFU

Studs and tv mounts
I have a Cheetah mount. It is not long enough to be mounted to two studs, no matter where I place it. My 46" tv's shipping weight was 37lbs.
Can I center mount the bracket to a stud? Will that be enough?
This sounds real stupid a question, the tv mount has both oblong holes and round holes. There are 2 oblong holes dead center that I can easily screw into a stud no problem, the screws are obviously round. I also have toggle bolts but I don't want to rely on them
Thanks in advanced. I just moved and am pet sitting. I can't leave the tv on the floor. hahaha. This puppy malinios will destroy it!

Running toilet, never seen a flapper like this, need some advice please
So, I've fixed my share of running toilets. Enough that I actually have a product I know and love for the job. It comes with a new flapper, ring and sealing putty.
However, one toilet in my house (of course the one that's running) has a flapper I've never seen before.
So that blue ring is attached to the "flapper" (not even sure if that's the right name for this kind of setup) and, looking at it, it seems to have a small crack in it which is what I'm assuming is causing the toilet to run. However, there is a chain in the underside, so I can't just pull the entire thing out. The entire thing lifts up only about an inch, and not sure how to remove it.
I think all I need is one of these: http://ift.tt/2b11ZB1
However, a second opinion, and some advice how to remove it to apply the sealing ring without having to take the entire unit, pump and all, which is the only way I can see doing it currently.
EDIT: BTW, it's tough to see in the picture, but the reason I say I've never seen a flapper like this, it's easily double the size of any I've seen, and it doesn't hinge. Just lifts straight up when the chain is pulled.

soundproof ceiling
Hi. The noise coming from upstairs is dreadful. They have laminate floor, i hear every step. Worse though, trying to sleep, i hear EVERY SINGLE MINUTE MOVEMENT when they adjust in bed... which is constant (their bed is directly above me, and up against the wall) It's not floor boards creaking, it's more like... muffled amplified noise, or something. I don't know, but it's driving me crazy, and it is unreasonable to complain and tell them to lie still like a corpse in bed!
So i want to try improve this within my skill range, which is quite low.
One idea I had (and maybe there are other fairly easy steps I can undertake) was to take the coving off from the ceiling, and seal the gap (if there is one!) with foam or rubber sealant.
I haven't taken the coving off yet (don't want to make a mess for nothing yet), but will there be a gap? Is there usually? The house is quite old - and will applying sealant/foam improve the noise at all?
I searched "remove coving" and I watched two YouTube videos - both had gaps when the coving came off. I am guessing this would leak noise?
Thanks.

Powering a 90W RGB LED
Hi! I have powered many 100w LEDS, and many 12v LED strips, but never a RGB chip higher than 12v... I was wondering how I should power it, as the colors apparently needs different voltages...
Will connecting 3 12v RGB controllers in series work? And use 1 remote to control them all with, by placing the IR receivers next to each other...
Or does anyone know of any cheap controllers? What should I search for on eBay? I work with DC voltage already. So not 220v to 40v, but 12v to 40v, or 24v to 40v, or even 40v to 40v. Problem is the RGB, not the voltage.
Thanks in advance!

What are these Black marks on insulation?
So I am doing some renovations on my wet bar behind this wall (a project soon to be posted here) and in the process I needed to re-run some of the electrical. When I tore into the wall I found these weird black marks on the insulation everywhere the romex had been previously run. Now the existing romex shows no sign of heat damage or melting and I recently had the meter panel and breaker panel replaced last year. Anybody know what could have caused this and if I should be worried/concerned?
Image attached:
edit: and yes I know it is a big no no to have the leads exposed and connected like I do with wire nuts, but this is only temporary.
